11 Things That Will Help You Through Your IVF Journey.

11 things that will help you get through and stay positive during your IVF journey and while you are TTC.

There is nothing more stressful than the IVF process and all the fertility treatments that go through your infertility process. You can go from calm and happy to overly stressed in 2 seconds. It is such a roller coaster of emotions all the time!

I want to share with you 11 tips that helped me while I was going through the extremely emotional journey of IVF and infertility journey.

I hope these tips help you stay calm and a happier version of yourself during this time.

  •  Staying close to family and family friends is so important. I needed a  support system during IVF. It was far too emotional to go through alone so I was amazing that I had my sisters that I could talk to and a supportive husband that would listen to my rants about everything. Because a lot of people don’t understand what it’s like to go through infertility and how emotional IVF is.

  • Staying as calm as possible – Things that I do regularly to help me stay calm are meditation, warm baths, reading my favorite book, and listening to soft music. Meditation can be something foreign to people. It does take some time to get use to it. BUT it was a life saver for me during IVF. Every single day I would meditate and imagine holding my perfect, healthy baby.

  • Don’t compare your story to others. This was a huge one for me. I constantly compared my story to everyone else. And that wasn’t fair to me because it just made me feel worse and get into a deeper depression. It made me wonder why me and question everything including why I was given such a difficult trial. I know this is so much harder to do than just saying don’t compare yourself to others. But really understanding that everyones journey is different really doesn’t help.

  • Join an online infertility support group and make connections with other people in similar situations. This helped me a lot. There are so many support groups on facebook or other platforms. You can even google local support groups in your area to see if there are any around you. I am part of a few infertility support groups on facebook that have been incredible.

  • Write down your thoughts – Journaling or a personal blog. Journaling is such a healthy way to let out your feelings because we all know how much this process is. So just having an outlet is such a healthy way to cope.

  • Acupuncture – This is one I see constantly from people talking about infertility treatments. So absolutely look into this option for yourself.

  • A supportive partner – It’s so important that your spouse is there for you to support you in this difficult time. They are going through infertility too. Just remember that. Don’t be afraid to talk to them, to open up, and really help each other understand your feelings.

  • Let go of expectations and plans because things can change in an instant. There were so many hiccups and bumps that came up in all of my fertility treatments. Things can change in a second just keep an open mind.

  • Therapy – I hate that therapy has such a bad name. You should never be ashamed for having to talk to someone about your life, and struggles. Therapy is an incredible blessing to people.

  • Motivational Podcasts and audio books. This was HUGE for me. I was constantly filling my mind with positivity when I was going through such a hard time.

  • A weekend getaway – There’s nothing wrong with taking a quick break from life and enjoying a nice vacation to clear your mind. This is something me and my husband try to do regularly.

I hope this list of ideas how you figure out some great ways to get through your infertility journey and ivf process.
